Nature Reserves and Sites

We manages four main nature reserves and sites across Alderney, as well as undertaking practical management in many other areas of the island, for example to maintain footpaths or control invasive species.

We produce multi-year strategies for the management of our larger reserves and sites, and annual action plans for our work each year. For more information, see the page for each site:

The new Reserves and Sites Management Strategy 2025-2030

We are in the process of drafting our next five-year strategy for our nature reserves and sites. Our overarching goals we hope to achieve in the next 5 years are:

1. Champion, 2. Study, 3. Protect

Timeline for the strategy

We recently launched a stakeholder feedback opportunity and we are now in the process of reviewing this feedback to draft the new strategy. This document will then be released for a period of 6 weeks for further feedback. The final document will be published at the end of October 2024, subject to staff time and resources.
