Corblets / Thanh Doan
CANCELLED - Seawater Parameters Survey - August 2025
About the event
We’re sorry to inform you that the seawater survey event scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled due to the weather — it’s too windy to conduct the survey safely.
If you would like to be updated about the next seawater survey, please contact Dr. Mel Broadhurst-Allen at marine@alderneywildlife.org.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If you’d like to chat with Mel about Alderney’s marine life, please drop by the Moorings tomorrow, Thursday 14 August, from 15:30 to 16:30 for the last Marine Tank Session of the year!

Join us in measuring seawater parameters at Corblets, Arch and Saye bays.
Meeting point: Corblets Bay carpark (w3w://bars.grumpily.permit)
The activity is a part of Alderney Wildlife Trust's Seawater Parameters Survey 2024-27. The project aims to collect long-term seawater data around Alderney with the help of our community. With the funding from Sea-Changers, a UK-based charity, AWT are able to purchase necessary equipment to regularly sample seawater parameters such as sea surface temperature, pH, and salinity.
Understanding seawater chemistry is crucial for studying marine habitats and species distribution and condition. This long-term monitoring will help us identify natural trends and climate change influences (such as sea temperature increases). Currently, there’s limited information on Alderney’s seawater chemistry, so this project is vital.
No need to register. Just turn up. Please wear appropriate clothing (wellies/waders if you have any).
If you have any inquiries, please email Dr. Mel Broadhurst-Allen at marine@alderneywildlife.org.
