Habitats on Alderney

Some of Alderney’s most important habitats cover significant areas of the island such as heath and species-rich grasslands. Yet some specialised habitats are about as small as you can imagine, from a tiny salt water marsh to small pockets of native woodland containing only a dozen or so trees.  The Island is also host to some of the most diverse, rugged and energetic marine biotopes (habitats) along the island’s rocky coastline.
