About the event

The Alderney Wildlife Trust’s (AWT) Reserves and Sites Management Strategy 2025-2030 is now out for review for the next 5 weeks, welcoming the views of stakeholders and the public before its publication at the end of the year.

The strategy sets out integrated approaches to habitat restoration, species conservation, visitor access and engagement, to ensure Alderney’s reserves and sites continue to thrive throughout this period and beyond.

This strategy aligns with The Wildlife Trusts’ 2030 strategy goals, which aims to achieve 1 in 4 people taking action for nature and climate, inspiring individuals and the community to take meaningful actions to drive nature’s recovery and actively participate in the preservation and enhancement of Alderney’s natural sites.

AWT’s commitment to Putting Nature into Recovery involves working with the whole community, including key landowners, the States of Alderney, and islanders, to ensure that at least 30% of the island’s environment is actively thriving for nature by 2030.

Local support is key to the work in the reserves and sites on Alderney. At the outset of this plan collecting the views of the public was crucial to developing a strategy that was fit for purpose.  There was an excellent response to the 2024 survey with the people of Alderney contributing their views and suggestions to develop the strategy.

This is now an opportunity to provide feedback which will be taken on board before the completion of the document prior to publication. The document is available to download on our website here (https://www.alderneywildlife.org/current-projects/nature-reserves), and paper copies will be available to read in the AWT Information Centre on Victoria Street or the Alderney Library.

Feedback would be gratefully received via email (reserves@alderneywildlife.org), submissions to the webform on our website, or by letter.
