The activity is a part of Alderney Wildlife Trust's Seawater Parameters Survey 2024-27. The project aims to collect long-term seawater data around Alderney with the help of our community. With the funding from Sea-Changers, a UK-based charity, AWT are able to purchase necessary equipment to regularly sample seawater parameters such as sea surface temperature, pH, and salinity.

Understanding seawater chemistry is crucial for studying marine habitats and species distribution and condition. This long-term monitoring will help us identify natural trends and climate change influences (such as sea temperature increases). Currently, there’s limited information on Alderney’s seawater chemistry, so this project is vital.

No need to register. Just turn up. Please wear appropriate clothing (wellies/waders if you have any).

If you have any inquiries, please email Dr. Mel Broadhurst-Allen at marine@alderneywildlife.org
