Alderney Wildlife Trust carries out a variety of wildlife surveys on Alderney. This includes:
- Birds (terrestrial and seabirds)
- Mammals (terrestrial and marine)
- Marine habitats
- Marine species
- Plant species
- Terrestrial habitats
These surveys aim to enhance current knowledge of Alderney's environment. The information is used by AWT to inform conservation management plans, planning applications, research and education.
The AWT greatly values the input of Alderney’s residents, visitors and volunteers and we collate your wildlife sightings and other ecological information for the Alderney Records Centre. After passing our verification process, your sightings are digitised as records, where they are used in a variety of applications; informing habitat management, planning, research, education and conservation.
If you have a wildlife sighting, you can let us know by submitting a sighting using our online form or submit to the iRecord app. Alternatively, there are sighting books at the AWT shop, Longis bird hide and Mannez bird hide.
