The States of Alderney (SoA) and the Alderney Wildlife Trust (AWT) are extremely proud have hosted this Inter-Island Environment Meeting (IIEM2015) here on Alderney, made possibly through the generous support of the Insurance Corporation. The meeting was attended by over 70 delegates and representation was received from Alderney, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Isles of Scilly, Isle of Wight, Jersey and Sark, as well as the UK and France
IIEM2015 Aim: The aim of the IIEM is to give Government bodies, NGOs, environmental managers and individuals across the Channel Islands, and for the first time in 2015 the wider European Territories, the opportunity to meet and consider the status of the islands’ environments.
This year's IIEM foucused on 'Minding the Gap' - The importance of ecological research and its use as a mechanism for environmental management within the islands. However, it also saw a strong line of discussion directed towards developing the mechanisms for communication between the islands and considering future resource sharing opportunities.
