Latin name: Carex paniculata

This is one of Britain’s largest sedges (a grass-like plant), growing in clumps or tussocks to over 1 metre in height.  It prefers to grow wet grassland and on Alderney the best place to see these huge tussocks is in the lower sections of the Bonne Terre valley.

Status in Alderney: Scarce
