Latin name: Psammechinus miliaris

Description: This species is a flattened, round shaped sea urchin, growing less than 50mm long. It has small distinct green spines with violet tips. It is an omnivore, which grazes on algae, barnacle spats, small bivalves and sea squirts.

Habitat: This species is found within intertidal rocky shores and sublittoral habitats. This includes mixed seabed substrates and seagrass beds.

Status: Widespread throughout UK and Channel Islands.
