Meadow Coral

Meadow Coral - Bill BlackMeadow Coral - Bill Black

Latin name: Clavulinopsis corniculata --EDIBLE--

This small coral-like species grows in unimproved grassland and on lawns. It has branching stems which can vary in colour from egg-yolk yellow to ochre or tan and a variable appearance depending on local conditions, including grass length. It grows in solitary clusters from late summer to early winter and because of its size is often overlooked. It is reportedly edible, but, is probably not worth the effort of collecting.
