Description: Sea slugs, also known as Nudibranchs, are small species where their shell is only present during the larval stage. Sea slugs come in a variety of body forms and colours - including the sea lemon pictured above (right). Their gills are usually found on the dorsal side of the body, towards the rear. The rhinophores are present (sensory tentacles near the head) and also oral tentacles and propodial tentacles.

Habitat: Sea slugs are found in a variety of habitats, ranging from the lower regions of the intertidal rocky shores, attached to algae or within sublittoral habitats.

Status: Widespread throughout UK and Channel Islands.
