Latin name: Ansates pellucida

Description: Blue rayed limpets are small molluscs, growing only to approximately 15 mm. This limpet species has a shell which has a translucent amber colour and iridescent blue spots and stripes.

Habitat: Blue rayed limpets are found in the lower regions of intertidal rocky shorelines and subtidal environments. They are found living on large macroalgae, primarily kelp species and are a herbivore species.

Status: Common in the Channel Islands and Europe.
